Student Activities announced on Instagram on Thursday that A Boogie wit da Hoodie will perform this year as the headliner for the Welcome Back Concert in January.
The Welcome Back Concert is an annual concert hosted by the Concert Advisory Committee in the Bristol Field House in January featuring artists such as T-Pain, Waka Flocka Flame, and B.O.B in recent years.
The student body selected A Boogie wit da Hoodie through a series of votes first selecting a genre and later choosing between Playboi Carti, Lizzo, Amine, and Fabolous.
A Boogie Wit da Hoodie is known for hits like Drowning (feat. Kodak Black) and My Shit. He is new to mainstream success, especially when compared to recent Welcome Back Concert headliners, releasing his first mixtape last year, but quickly made a name for himself with his first album, The Bigger Artist, in June.
The concert will be on Saturday, January 20 and tickets will be $10 for HWS students and $15 for guests.
